Meet the San Diego Team Behind Woolsey Insulation San Diego

We’re an independently owned and operated insulation crew based right here in San Diego, and we’ve been climbing into attics across the county since 2002 as part of the Kingswell family. What unites us is pretty simple: we believe a written price, a clean job site, and work that holds up are not extras. They’re the job. Most of our technicians have been with Woolsey Insulation San Diego for years, which means the person who answers your call probably knows the person who’ll show up at your door. You won’t get a rotating cast of subcontractors. You’ll get us.

Our People

Mike R. – Lead Technician

Mike has spent 18 years in the insulation trade, the last 11 of them with Woolsey Insulation San Diego. He holds advanced certification in spray foam application and has run more attic insulation projects in San Diego than he can count, from 1920s bungalows in North Park to new builds in Otay Ranch. Mike is the guy who figures out why one bedroom runs ten degrees hotter than the rest of the house. He has a habit of sketching airflow diagrams on the back of his clipboard and handing them to homeowners so they understand exactly what he found. Off the clock, he restores old motorcycles and claims the garage is his second attic.

Lena S. – Senior Installer

Lena joined Woolsey Insulation San Diego seven years ago after running her own small remodeling crew, and she brought a carpenter’s eye for fit and finish with her. She specializes in dense-pack cellulose and Rockwool batts, and she’s known for leaving a job site so tidy you’d never know she’d been up there except for the cooler house. Lena is the team member most likely to point out a small air leak around a can light and fix it on the spot rather than walking past it. She grew up in Clairemont and can tell you which neighborhoods have the strangest attic layouts, often from experience. Her two dogs are named after insulation brands, which tells you something about how this crew thinks.

Danny T. – Service Coordinator

Danny is the voice on the phone when you call Woolsey Insulation San Diego, and he’s been answering that phone for six years, including nights and weekends. He started as an installer’s helper, so when you describe cold spots or a musty attic smell, Danny knows what you mean and can explain what the technician will likely check first. He schedules every job around a committed arrival window and makes sure the written price goes out before anyone heads your way. Danny keeps a notebook of every San Diego attic oddity he’s heard about, from raccoon latrines to 1970s foil-faced fiberglass that’s falling in sheets. He’ll tell you the raccoon story if you ask, and you’ll be glad you did.

Carlos M. – Apprentice Installer

Carlos is the newest member of the crew, coming up on two years with Woolsey Insulation San Diego. He’s working through his training on both blown-in attic insulation and spray foam, pairing with Mike or Lena on every job while he builds hours toward full certification. Carlos grew up in Chula Vista and worked summers with his uncle’s construction crew before joining us, so he showed up already knowing how to move in tight spaces without breaking things. Homeowners often comment on how carefully he wraps furniture and lays drop cloths before the hose comes in. He’s also the only one on the team who can back the van into a Mission Hills driveway on the first try, which the rest of us pretend not to be impressed by.

One Standard, Every Job

Every Woolsey Insulation San Diego technician follows The Kingswell Way, no matter which independently owned location they call home. It works like this: we say the price before work starts, in writing, every time. We show up in the committed arrival window. We leave the job site cleaner than we found it. We put the guarantee in writing, 365 days, on every repair and installation. And if something isn’t right within that year, we come back and fix it at no charge. No fine print, no call-back runaround, no arguing about whether it was our fault. Glenn Hartley, who owns this San Diego location, holds every tech to that standard personally. He still walks job sites regularly and has been known to check attic access covers himself before the crew wraps up. That’s not corporate policy talk. That’s just how we run things here.
